Boy On The Way

I saw him in that blistering sun
Eyes haggard, hair jagged
I wondered, "whose son? "
His bone structure had questionable integrity
And I wondered if his head would give way under the load
His master for the hour yelled "hurry!"
Then paces quickened and my heart leapt!
Oh God!  the boy looked like one who hardly slept
Amidst yells of "make way!...I'm coming through! "
The boy trudged to his destination finally
The ungrateful master gave him a few pesewas.
The boy with a grateful heart sauntered to join
the other boys ,perpetual natives of the streets.
The sun scowled brilliantly on his discoloured hair
And boy's nightmare began again.
